A Recent Update on the September 11th case

Military prosecutors have recently decided to sentence six Guantanamo detainees to the death penalty. They are going to be charged with playing an outsized position in the September 11th terrorist attacks. This was determined as of Sunday. All the minutiae will be announced on Monday at the Pentagon.

My questions on this matter are: why has it taken so long (six years and five months to be precise) to confine these criminals? What is the intention of our procrastination of capturing them? Who are we to just sit back and permit our country to be ruined? The American public sends enormous amounts of capital toward the war alone. I recognize that many people support our president. However, has he really done as much for US as we have for him? War=money. Therefore, the war will be willingly drug out to as long as it can so the cash flow will still be coming in.

Are you still not convinced? Well, get this: our country has been attacked countless times throughout Bush’s presidency (2000-2008.) The arms that other countries are attacking us with are OUR weapons! We have sent American troops to help underprivileged countries build up their armies, too. What do the other countries do in return? They attack us! So… do you think it is smart to release our weapons to other nations? I think not. If we really want to help other countries, why don't we help the impoverished who are starving to death? Even though we live in a democratic society, does our voice really count? There is an upside though. At least we can voice what our opinions are and not be penalized for it. Take what you want to believe from my article, but I hope this will open your mind to a different viewpoint of another American citizen.

All sounds dreamy world to me. Yeah, help the poor and impovershed...but what about the tortured? What about coming home to find your father has been killed and you have no idea where your brothers are, only to find them in a mass grave somewhere.

These people are barbaric and cruel. It is okay for them to cut off our heads and laugh...but bad bad americans for keeping them detaned. Give me a break...do you really think we would just lock up someone for 6 years if they had no affiliation with our destruction?

Another way to look at it...is that these people would take great pleasure in stoning you, and watching you die...yet if you did that to them-the media would have you as a person of hate crimes, you would be a pariah of the community.

You cant have your freedoms with out a price. Our biggest problem is that we take on too much to help others. Why not take all the money, let them destroy and kill themselves and put a big fence around our country? Why not deport all illegals, and cut immigration? Why not empty our jails and put our death row inmates on the front line?

Or, you can go to your fantasy world where we will dish out rice and everyone will love us.

Right.

To me, it doesn't sound like a dreamy world- it's what the world should be. The corruption that goes on within our country is inhumane and should be stopped. This won't happen over night, but the smallest contribution to the matte can make a difference to get closer to an ideal world. The first comment does make a good point though about how cruel people can be and how some get pleasure out of others pain. Nevertheless, we really do have good people in this world. We just have to find them.
