Cutting back won't kill you

Question sent to me from GinA455- "I'm broke and the summer isn't even half over. I have a job but I can't seem to save. Any help here?"

It is apparent to most Americans that the United States is in a recession. Some ways to save money are:
1. Shop at ethnic grocery stores. They tend to be cheaper in cost as oppose to ShopRite, Key Food, Whole Foods, Kings, etc.
2. Rather than eating out, try cooking at home to cut gas cost and food cost (this is something I really need to start doing. I eat out way too much.)
3. If you are shopping for a new vehicle, try an economy-friendly hybrid car. A hybrid car is a car that uses two or more forms of power. It's a great way to improve the fuel economy, cut down on pollution and save you money.
4. Also, you could buy a motorcycle which gets approximately 90 mpg.
5. Create a bank account. If you keep your money at home or in your wallet, you will be tempted to spend it. In a bank account, it's safe and secure and not as tempting to spend because the money is not in front of you.
6. Instead of going to the mall or even to a friend's house, host a potluck event at your house. It saves you the time to get there, cooking and the cost of it all.
7. Rather than going to see a movie in theaters, rent something on paperview or in stores. You can have many people watch for the cost of about three or four dollars.
8. An advantage of living in Warwick, NY is you can go to the Drive-In. The cost of the ticket is cheap but be sure not to buy concession stand food. Bring your own food or buy a few items at ShopRite which is right next door for less money. Also just because it is called a drive-in doesn't mean that you must bring a car. My friends and I have one parent pick us all up and drop us off and we bring coolers, blankets and food. We have a great time and save money!

-These are just some simple ways to keep your money, especially during the summer. It's much harder to keep your money in the summer because you have all the time in the world to spend it! I hope some of these tips help you, GinA455!
