Okay, so this sort of relates to a comment I left about the school lunches post. I’m a freshman, and I joined the Rainbow Alliance. They said they did a lot of bake sales last year, so I thought, ‘cool, more bakes sales! People like bake sales!’ However, we weren’t allowed to this year. For two reasons: One, they didn’t want us stuffing brownies with weed. Two, it goes against the school’s health and wellness program. Give me a break! If we’re an honest club being supervised by a teacher, we’re not going to put weed in the brownies! It’s sick that this is what they assume. In addition, if our school is so for health and wellness, then why are they selling the cafeteria food that they do? I see so many kids get fries, a cookie and lemonade for lunch, instead of the actual food. If we can’t sell brownies and cupcakes for a few hours, then they shouldn’t be able to sell fries and cookies for a meal.

Gia, thanks a lot for writing this article as a follow-up to mine. Your article makes total sense. Think of it this way: You are selling things for a specific reason-for a cause. The cafeteria just sells this junk to make a few bucks (well more than that). So really, I don’t see why you couldn’t have your bake sales because from what you told me in your reasons, they’re just making excuses. Keep The Articles Coming, People!
Weed in brownies! This school will come up with any and every excuse to get their way.
No Backpacks creates more space in the hallways? HA! Just another excuse to enforce their authoritarian rules.
What about all the girls who carry purses/handbags that are the size of small countries? Do I really have to bring in a sports bag put my books in it, and tell them I have track just so I won't get written up? Wouldn't you like to give your arms a break from carrying those heavy books??
i agree completely about the backpacks thing.
i carry a small tote bag.
but yea, the OBNOXIOUSLY huge purses shouldn't be allowed if small backpacks, like the draw-string ones, aren't allowed.
